Transparency in everything the council does is particularly important. Rate-payers need a better idea and more detail as to what is being spent and how it is funded. We are also concerned that council expenditure has grown too much in recent years. Again, increased transparency will enable rate-payers to asses whether the allocation and level of council expenditure is appropriate.

Greater Wellington is critical to the economic performance of the region and so Wellington businesses have a strong interest in the activities and efficient operation of GW. As major contributors to GW’s rate take we are also concerned there is value for money and that businesses are not paying more than their fair share.
