Changes to the Contractor Relationship Consultation

The Government is currently seeking feedback on whether contractors need more legal protections, and if so, what form those protections should be.
Business Central & BusinessNZ invite you to take part in our workshop and to express your views on the proposed changes to this important part of employment legislation. We want our members to tell policy makers how the changes will affect how you conduct business and utilise contractors. The proposed changes are likely to have a significant impact on a number of sectors where contractors are regularly used such as manufacturing, trades, healthcare, and construction.
The workshop will be led by Nehal Davison, Caoimhe McKeogh and Gayathiri Ganeshan work in the Labour and Immigration Policy branch at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. Paul Mackay (BusinessNZ’s Employment Relations Policy Manager) will also be in to give context to the proposed changes. Please note that while submissions will close on the 14th February, we have been advised that late submission by workshop attendees will be accepted by prior arrangement with MBIE.
