Succession Planning: What will your professional legacy be?

Date: Wednesday 23 Oct 2019     Time: 5:30pm to 7pm

Venue: Westpac Lower Hutt Branch - 210 High St, Lower Hutt

Whether it is retirement or to start the next big project in your life, at some stage you will need to prepare your business for your exit.

In partnership with Westpac, Business Central are bringing in experts from Kensington Swan to help you set up a smooth and secure transition for your business when you decide it’s time to take your next step. Whether you’re looking to sell up or just take a step back, join us for an evening to hear Henry Brands-Giesen and Campbell Featherstone run you through what you need to know moving forward.

Whilst no one can predict the future, Henry and Campbell both have an extensive work history in corporate and commercial law which means they know what to look out for when making these kinds of decisions.

With a long history of helping individuals and families structure their assets, Henry is no stranger to the ‘SME Succession Conundrum’ – the tendency of SME owners to push succession decisions down the road, possibly to the detriment of their position later. As Head of Private Wealth at Kensington Swan, Henry will cover how to conduct meaningful succession discussions, and why it’s so important that business owners have a plan in place. For those of you interested to sell a business at some point, Henry will also talk you through how to prepare for and manage the sales process, as well as how to structure the proceeds.

Campbell Featherstone is a senior associate in the Corporate and Commercial team in Kensington Swan’s Wellington office. He advises on all matters of corporate governance, directors’ duties, and M&A transactions, and has experience advising on business and share sales, restructuring, and shareholder arrangements in relation to companies at all stages of their lifecycle. He is also a member of the firm’s technology and innovation practice, and frequently advises on matters concerning technology and privacy.
