Business Central Launches 2023 Health & Safety Roadshow

Issue date

Earlier this week, Business Central launched the 2023 Health & Safety Roadshow, proudly sponsored by ACC.The Roadshow aims to equip businesses with the tools required to manage risk in the workplace, with a series of experts exploring ways to avoid, mitigate, transfer and accept risk across six topical areas, including mental health and wellbeing.

Speaking at the launch event, Sir John Kirwan, former All Black and now mental health advocate, highlighted the importance of being able to bring your authentic self to the workplace and for workplaces to play an equal part in supporting its employees’ mental well-being, by normalising conversations around it:

“I come from a generation that no one showed emotion – especially if you’re a male, which is ridiculous.

“If we can educate our kids to come up with a really solid daily mental health plan so they can be resilient to what the world throws at them…and if we can have really good mental health in the workplace, I think we’ll start seeing more retention of people, better productivity – just because people are happy.”

Throughout the rest of May, the Health & Safety Roadshow will travel around Central New Zealand, delivering training and thought leadership to a wide range of organisations and businesses. Each session will address the most common health and safety risks at work; enhanced cyber security; psychosocial risk assessments; pre-employment protocols; creating inclusive and supportive teams, and how to support at-risk team members; and, last but not least, sustainability risk.

We’re delighted to have enlisted ZX Security, Umbrella, Habit Health, Victim Support and Groov as Roadshow partners to deliver this programme and provide specialised guidance.
